Direct Experience In Law Enforcement That Qualifies Me To Be Your Sheriff:

My qualifications to serve as your county sheriff include over 15 years of direct experience in many different areas of administration and law enforcement. I began my career with the Camdenton Police Department as a full time police officer. During this time, I served many roles: patrol officer, investigator, member of the Major Case Squad, member of the Sexual Assault Response Team, and a School Resource Officer. Although I have since taken on different full time responsibilities,  I continue to hold a commission with the Camdenton Police Department, work the road, and assist in investigations. Prior to serving as a first responder I managed struggling companies to bring them to successful profitable companies.

Following my full time position with the Camdenton PD, I began working in Investigations for the Camden County Prosecutor's Office. I served under 2 elected Prosecutors as the Chief of Operations and Investigations of Camden County. I managed procedures of the office and supervised all law enforcement agencies' paperwork, reports, probable cause statements, training, and I assisted agencies with investigations.

I currently provide training and professional development for Law Enforcement Officers in many facets. I hold a (Peace Officers Standards & Training) POST certification as an instructor for the State of Missouri. Through Missouri State University, I provide training, as well as professional development, for various agencies throughout the state. These classes include firearm training, crime scene investigations, child crime investigations, and report writing.

Over the years, as I have served in Law Enforcement,  I witnessed (as many of us did) the shift in the perception of Law Enforcement within communities, especially among our youth. This greatly concerned me. I have a strong belief that law enforcement can have an amazing and positive impact within communities. I knew I could help make a difference. I went back to college to earn my teaching certification and became an instructor at Lake Career and Technical Center (LCTC) for the Camdenton RIII School District teaching students law enforcement and crime scene investigations. This program is fostering a positive perception of law enforcement and criminal justice within our youth who will be our future leaders. I have also teamed up with Missouri State University as a dual credit college professor to allow them to earn criminal justice college credit in the class. These students are not only learning the process of law enforcement, CSI and the judicial system, but they are also gaining valuable life experience.  In addition, I proudly sit on the board for Criminal Justice Instructors of Missouri and the Camdenton School Safety Committee. I created the curriculum and State  standards for all Criminal Justice Instructor of Missouri within the Career Centers.

I promise, if elected as your Sheriff, my life, integrity, vision, and purpose will remain steadfast and be geared toward the safety of the citizens of Camden County and the professionalism of the men and women of the Camden County Sheriff’s Department. My dedication will never waver and I will always put the community first. I look forward to sharing more of my vision for the Camden County Sheriff's Department with you.

VISIONS

THREE PRIORITIES I WILL IMPLEMENT

1. Having a more visible presence in the community, visible to not only the public but also to the road and correction deputies. I will be a working sheriff, in the car, taking citizen complaints, and out in the public eye.

2. I will also incorporate open meetings with the public, like coffee with a cop, to learn the concerns of the people of Camden County. This type of meeting will be held around the county to meet all community needs. Building better partnerships with the community with programs like a Youth Explorer Program, a Citizen Police Academy, and a Citizen Advisory Board.

3. Increasing Training for deputies and correction officers with in-house training and teaming with Missouri State University Public Safety Division. This will help bring training cost down with giving the deputies and correction officers up-to-date and a wide array of training.

AS SHERIFF
I believe I can excel our county sheriff department from its current state, making it more proactive in crime fighting, and developing stronger relationships with the community to help prevent and solve crime. Integrity, innovation, and involvement; these words have been used throughout my life. By working together, we can enhance our current programs and make them more proficient. I will be taking a more aggressive stance on our county opioid/fentanyl and drug epidemic. I believe the sheriff should take a leadership role in the community when issues like this come to the forefront, not wait until the problem grows out of control. I seek progression and change through proactive law enforcement. People should expect more; status quo is not enough!
